'We serve meat.' That's the message you
get when you read the sign 'Imbiss – The Meating Joint.' Enter the
place and the mix of beef, chicken and pork frying in the kitchen
overwhelms your senses. The ventilation could be better, but to a
meat lover, the smell wouldn't be a bother. Of course, if you're not
one, you shouldn't be at Imbiss.
The place is quite small ;
unpretentious and simply no airs of opulence. The place reflects
their food. The portions aren't pretentious, the pricing isn't too
high and the food deliciously gets the job done. I've been there
twice.
The burgers.
The chicken burger is noticeably better
than the beef burger. The chicken patty has a distinguishable taste
within the burger, while the taste of the beef patty gets lost among
all that happens in the burger. My vote goes to the chicken which is
not to say that the beef one isn't good. The sweetness of the onions
pours through as you bite into either one of them. Also, if you have
your burger without cheese, stop having burgers.
The Weiner Schnitzel
Veal filet pounded, crumb fried and
served with a salad. (few pieces of cucumbers, onions and lettuce
with lime juice). This was a little disappointing. Overall, the dish
is too dry. Ketchup of course can be used as a dip. But, that just
seems like butchering the dish.
Baby back spare ribs
Heavenly. Bite into the succulent meat
soaked in BBQ sauce and find 'Nirvana'. This is the most impressive
dish on the menu. Period. Nothing more need be said.
The chicken hot dog
When I was served this, the onions were
slightly burnt. Unfortunately it spoiled the taste of the hot dog.
However, the sausage was cooked well and the bun seemed nice and
soft. It could do with a little more mayo and a few more sauces.
Overall 4/5. Writing this, makes me
want to go back there.
